Located just south of Oxbow, the Souris Valley and Souris River are breath taking sceneries and relaxing retreats from the ordinary hustle and bustle. Take a ride on the Lady Souris, book a weekend camping trip in the Bow Valley Park, or stop by for a tranquil picnic!

Oxbow isn't your typical prairie landscape...



Lady Souris

The Lady Souris river boat takes passengers on a ride through the Souris Valley on the Souris River and out towards the Alameda Dam. Make sure to bring your camera! The abundance of wildlife guarantees several sightings. Boat launch is located in Bow Valley Park.

Contact the Oxbow Business Association for tour times & dates. The Lady Souris runs from June to September annually.

Please Note: The Lady Souris in unavailable for 2010.  We will be up and running in 2011.


Bow Valley Park

Bow Valley Park is nestled in Souris Valley. Bow Valley Park is located south of Oxbow just off of Marconi Road in the valley. There are well treed camp sites with full services. The Souris River runs along side the park. The wide open park also has trails perfect for your hiking adventure. The park features:

  • 20 Electric camp sites & 15 Non-Electric
  • Children's playground
  • Cookhouse
  • Showers & Bathrooms
  • Ball Diamonds
  • Lady Souris boat rides
  • Drinking water
  • Dumping station

bow valley campground2.jpg$15 per electric site or $10 per non-electric site.  Weekly rates at $90 per electirc site or $60 per non-electric.

Sites are available on a first come first serve basis.





Ralph
Allen Museum


museum.jpgOnce a soon to be abandoned C.P.R. station, citizen's of Oxbow banded together to create a small prairie town museum that has received national attention from B.C. to New Brunswick.

The museum features arts, railroading, oilfield industry as well as pioneer life.

The station has historical background in that it was the former home of Ralph Allen, one of Canada's top-flight journalist, war correspondent, magazine editor and author.



Moose Creek Golf Course

9 hole golf course with grass greens. Golf cart rentals are available.



Moose Creek Regional Park

Moose Creek Regional Park is located 4 miles North and 1.5 miles West of Oxbow.

There are 58 Full Service Sites, and 33-30amp Electrical sites complete with picnic tables and fire pits. There are a few primitive sites available with tables and pits and lots of overflow room for those who are self-contained. Water, showers and washrooms are available near the campsites.

Services include: dumping station, boat launch, picnic tables, grills, showers, and fish filleting shack.

Moose Creek offers many recreational activities such as boating, fishing, swimming, golfing, and a playground.

 

Two floating docks and concrete boat launch permit access to the Reservoir for some of the finest Perch, Walleye, and Northern Pike fishing to be found in the Province. Northern Pikes in excess of twenty pounds are common catches and Perch have been a recent addition to the reservoir. The reservoir has some wind protection which has made it a popular place for water skiing and wakeboards. All watercraft is permitted through the park gates.
