Kraft Hockeyville is an annual contest that is community-driven. If crowned Kraft Hockeyville 2024, Oxbow would win $250,000 to go towards our New Ice Plant.

Submissions do not need to be made by an Oxbow resident. However, someone who uses or has used the arena and has knowledge of our hockey community will be helpful when answering the required questions.

Submissions can be made until February 16, 2024, then the judging begins. The top 4 arenas are announced on March 9th.

1. WHY SHOULD I SUBMIT A NOMINATION?

1. Nomination stories and videos count for 80% of our arena total score! This is the most important piece of the competition.
2. Photos and notes  Rally points count for the other 20%

2. HOW LONG SHOULD MY NOMINATION BE?

1. If submitting an essay, you must use between 150 and 1,000 characters, including spaces, to answer each of the three (3) questions.
2. If submitting a video: Your video should not exceed 2 minutes and must answer each of the three (3) questions listed below!

3. YOU NEED TO ANSWER THESE THREE QUESTIONS IN YOUR NOMINATION STORY OR VIDEO

1. Tell us about your community's spirit and passion for hockey. Can you describe or explain examples of how this came to life? (worth 50% of total score)
2. Tell us about your arena. Why is it important to you, your family, and your community? (worth 25% of total score)
3. Explain how your community will use the $250,000 to upgrade and improve your arena. Please note the Community wants this money to go toward the new Environmentally friendly Ice Plant. (worth 25% of total score)

4. WHAT ARE SOME TIPS TO GET ME STARTED ON A NOMINATION STORY?

1. Think about what your story is really about. Ask yourself:
   "Why am I telling this story?"
2. Understanding the "why" behind your story and how it relates to the "who," "what," "where," and "when" will help you craft a meaningful story about your community.
3. Make it easy for viewers to relate to your community. Let your story paint a picture of your community. Create vivid imagery by incorporating language that appeals to the five senses: touch, taste, hearing, sight and smell.
4. Bring us into your world. Provide explanations for any acronyms and language references you use that are specific to your community.

5. HOW DO I MAKE A NOMINATION/SUBMISSION?

• Visit the official Kraft Hockeyville page ,find "Oxbow Arena" and register. 

6. HOW DOES THE SCORING WORK?

Points are awarded for each submission and rally action. Nomination stories are individually worth 80% of your community's total score, so explaining exactly why our community deserves to be the next Kraft Hockeyville Grand Prize Winner is essential. Rally actions are worth the remaining 20%. Page 6 of the official rules explains how these are broken down.
