Welcome to Town of Oxbow!
Where our motto is "Progress With Pride"
Located in the southeast corner of Saskatchewan, Oxbow is a thriving and progressive community. We are located on the Bakkan Play, one of the richest oil finds in our history, and business is booming! There is no shortage of work in our area, and no shortage of opportunity for those entrepreneurs clever enough to invest in our area.
We have housing! There are currently 8 condos available for sale or rent, and they are truly beautiful. Other housing becomes available occasionally, and we do our best to stay on top of those. There are so many reasons why people want to live here, we have a new school, medical care, and safe living. More that 50 volunteer groups testify to a strong community spirit, and there is no end to the recreational opportunities for those of you who want to get involved.
The Bow Valley is breathtaking year round, and home to an abundance of wild life.
Come and let us show you around. If you'd like a tour of Oxbow call Lorri our Community Development Officer at 306-483-2747

Need Volunteers?
A few years ago, stay at home moms made up a large part of our volunteer pool. Now, many households need two incomes to function. Add to the mix that being mobile families with at least two vehicles, many households have many children involved in many different activities, often in more than one community--all requiring volunteers. You see the issue. The demand for volunteers increases while the availability of volunteers decreases. Adding to the issue, is that people sign their kids up for s...

Quality of Life Survey Results in New Projects
So...when we did the Quality of Life Survey in August, our community responded! And based on those responses, the Community Development Officer has these priorities in the upcoming year, in no particular order. Priorities shift often depending on funding and community support:
Community Development:
Begin work on the Official Community Plan
Look at recycling models for people who want to cash in their can or bottles
Investigate both residential and municipal composting prog...

2012 Culture and Heritage Forum
I am sitting in a beautiful room in Saskatoon in the Bezz--It is a large forum with more than 100 people representing 32 communities. The purpose of this forum is to teach us as a municipality how to do a cultural plan and how doing so can help develop the community. It is a good forum--and helps me understand that Oxbow is truly on track. On our last Quality of Life Survey several Culture and Heritage projects were brought forth--and those projects have become an integral part of our communi...

What's Up Around Oxbow
I love the Oxbow Herald; it is such a well done local paper. In just this issue alone, (Monday, February 6, 2012) there are features about the Southeast Starletts, a synchonized skating team, a history page going back 100 years, a story about a local lottery winner, and tons (or should I say tonnes?) of photos about the puppet show held at the Expressway Family Centre, a feature on the Lightning Project, and articles of regional interest, I could go on. We are very lucky to have such a thing ...

Curbside Recycling Comes To Oxbow
Written by Liz Bottrell as published in the Oxbow Hearld May 2, 2011
The Town of Oxbow is taking a big step towards becoming a greener community by introducing curbside recycling this month.
"It was a success in Carlyle and it's something that is needed," said Bran Vanbeselaere, administrator for the Town of Oxbow, of why council voted to bring curbside recycling to the community.
Regens Disposal Limted, the company offering curbside recycling to Oxbow, will deliver two bins - a ...

Oxbow students on the move
written by Sylvia MacBean as published in the Oxbow Herald on March 21st.
Friday was a special day for the students of Oxbow's Prairie Heights High School and Oxbow Elementary School. The students said goodbye to their old school facilities forever, and moved into their new school called Oxbow Prairie Horizons School. Plans for Oxbow's Prairie Horizon's school were announced back in 2006. Construction was hampered by wet weather, and a shortage of construction workers, who kept leaving when ...
